Organisational Trust
Organisational trust is an employee’s belief that the organisation will keep its word, act fairly in its decisions and share reliable information.
Employees judge trust through everyday decisions as much as through big announcements. Knowing the criteria for a promotion process in advance, or a manager getting back to the team on the date they gave, shapes that judgement.
When a policy changes, share the reasoning behind the decision, who it affects and which issues are still open. If the date for announcing results is pushed back, for example, communicate the new date and the reason through the same channel. When tracking trust, use questions based on specific behaviour, such as “Do management’s actions match its promises?”
