Pay Transparency
Pay transparency is openly sharing salary ranges, pay criteria and increase logic with employees and candidates: the new trust test for employer brands.
[DRAFT] Prepared for team approval; this note will be removed once approved.
The EU pay transparency directive and the expectations of younger generations have taken pay out of the "unspoken" zone. Transparency does not require publishing exact figures: ranges in job ads, explained grades and criteria and a clear increase cycle are transparency too.
Why it matters
Silence about pay makes candidates and employees assume the worst. Transparency raises fairness perception and trust; ranges in ads improve application quality.
Communication steps
- A plain explanation of pay philosophy and criteria
- Ranges in job ads; a pay conversation guide for managers
- Scheduled communication of the increase and promotion cycle
- A channel for questions and appeals
