Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
DEI is the work of representing people of different identities and backgrounds (diversity), giving them fair opportunities (equity) and making them feel they belong (inclusion).
[DRAFT] Prepared for team approval; this note will be removed once approved.
DEI is both a value and a proof area in the employer brand: indicators such as women in leadership, employment of people with disabilities and generational balance, and how they are communicated, are among candidates' decision criteria. Inclusive language, accessible content and representation are everyday responsibilities of communication.
Why it matters
A sense of inclusion is a strong driver of engagement; diversity correlates with innovation and decision quality. DEI that stays in words ("window-dressing inclusion") loses trust.
Communication practices
- An inclusive language and imagery guide
- A data-based annual progress report
- Employee resource groups and their stories
- An awareness-day calendar and accessible content
