Corporate Narrative

In short

A corporate narrative is the shared story that connects where an organisation comes from, which need it answers and where it wants to go.

A founding story, a customer story or a milestone is an event in its own right. A corporate narrative selects the events that explain the organisation’s purpose and choices. Leadership speeches and new joiner sessions can draw on this shared story.

When developing the narrative, ask employees at different levels which decision in the organisation was a turning point for them. Verify the chosen examples with dates and details. For example, a production decision changed for the first time by an employee suggestion can convey the organisation’s approach to participation more clearly than an abstract statement of values.
