Change Communication
Change communication is planned communication that helps employees understand, accept and adopt change during mergers, new systems, restructuring or culture transformation.
[DRAFT] Prepared for team approval; this note will be removed once approved.
Lack of communication is a leading cause of change project failure. Change communication answers "why are we changing, what will change, what does it mean for me, when, how will I be supported?" at every stage and works along a journey from awareness to adoption.
Why it matters
Change means uncertainty, and rumour and resistance fill the uncertainty gap. Early, honest, two-way communication lowers resistance and speeds adoption.
Framework
- Stakeholder and impact analysis: who is affected, how much?
- Message architecture: why → what → how → when
- Leader and manager roles, cascade plan
- Feedback loop and pulse surveys
