Accessible Internal Communication

In short

Accessible internal communication presents internal information in forms that employees with different access needs can perceive, understand and use.

A spoken leadership message can reach a wider group of employees with captions or a transcript. Sharing the dates and application details in a visual announcement as text as well ensures that people who use screen readers can access the same information.

Before publishing an announcement, try out the task the employee will need to complete from start to finish. Does the link text say where it leads? Can the form be filled in using a keyboard? Is a change shown only through colour? Testing by employees with different access needs can reveal barriers the design team has missed.
