Internal Communication Audit

In short

An internal communication audit is an assessment of how well an organisation’s internal messages, channels and communication processes meet employees’ needs.

A newsletter may have a high open rate while employees on the night shift learn about an important change late. An audit looks at channel data together with employee interviews and content samples to find out where information breaks down.

Pick a specific announcement and trace the path it took from preparation to reaching employees. Ask employees at different sites when they received the message, how they understood it and what they did afterwards. Link each finding to a concrete improvement. Sending shift announcements to the responsible team leader in advance could be one such step.
