Employer Brand Benchmarking

In short

Employer brand benchmarking is an employer comparing the experience or communication it offers candidates and employees with that of other employers against set criteria.

The employers an organisation competes with for talent may differ from its competitors in the product market. A bank’s software developer candidates, for example, may also consider technology companies among their career options.

First define the role and the candidate audience. Then review career pages, job ads or candidate research from the same period against shared criteria. For example, you can compare how clearly each employer describes working arrangements in its job ads. Mark any practice that cannot be verified from publicly available information as “no information” in the comparison.
