Application Abandonment Rate
The application abandonment rate shows the share of people who start a job application form but do not complete and submit it within a set period.
The calculation is based on applications in which the form was opened and started. Not everyone who views the job ad is included in this group. The start and completion steps are matched through the same application record.
If 150 of 200 forms started in the same group were submitted within the set period, the abandonment rate is (200 − 150) ÷ 200 × 100 = 25%. Allow a reasonable period so that candidates can come back and complete the form later. If abandonment clusters at a particular field or on mobile devices, that is a good place to start testing the step with candidates.
