Candidate Journey Map
A candidate journey map shows the touchpoints a person meets from first getting to know an employer to the end of the recruitment process, and what they experience at each one.
When the recruitment team’s process chart says “interview completed”, the waiting period is only just beginning for the candidate. The map puts the steps the organisation takes side by side with what the candidate sees, wonders about and feels.
Pick a specific role. Talk to a few candidates about where they first saw the job ad, what information they looked for and at which stage they expected to hear back. If, for example, silence after the technical interview emerges as a shared problem, add to the map who will send an update message and when.
