Candidate Communication

In short

Candidate communication is the written and spoken communication an employer has with candidates, from before they apply until the hiring decision.

The information candidates need most is often simple. Who will be in the interview? Do I need to prepare? When will I hear back? Candidate communication answers these questions at every stage, from the job ad to the outcome email.

In an interview invitation, state the length and format of the interview and who the candidate can direct questions to. If the decision date changes, let them know before the original date passes. Write the message that closes the process according to the stage the candidate reached. Someone who has had three interviews expects a more personal reply than an automated email confirming that their application has been received.
