Employee-Generated Content

In short

Employee-generated content is writing, photos, audio or video that an organisation’s employees create about their own work, teams or experience of working there.

A short project video filmed by a technician or a diary in which an intern describes their first week both fall into this category. What sets this content apart is that the story and the perspective come from the person doing the work.

Give participants a single open-ended question. “What did you learn at work this week?”, for example, brings original answers from different teams. Tell people in advance where the content will be published, get consent from anyone who appears on camera and show the text or video to its creator after editing.
